The SANDF MSDS 2027 intake is open for applications from 16 February to 27 March 2026, offering a two-year voluntary service program in the Army, Air Force, Navy, or Military Health Service. Applicants must be RSA citizens (18–22 for matriculants, up to 26 for graduates) with no criminal records or visible tattoos, requiring an APS of 18 or higher (excl. Life Orientation)

 

Key Requirements & Details:

  • Age: 18–22 years (Grade 12), 18–26 years (3-year Tertiary Qualification/N6).
  • Citizenship: South African (no dual citizenship).
  • Medical/Fitness: Must be medically fit, pass drug tests, and meet minimum height (Males: 155cm, Females: 148cm) and weight (Males: 52kg, Females: 48kg) requirements.
  • Academic: Minimum Admission Point Score (APS) of 18 (excluding Life Orientation). Mathematics and Physical Science are required for technical/specialised fields (e.g., Engineering, Technical Service).
  • Restrictions: No visible tattoos (face, neck, ears, legs, arms) when in uniform.
