Key Timeframes for Lodging Complaints:

  • Members/Former Members: Must lodge a complaint within 180 days from the date the Grievance Board made its decision, or from when they became aware of the issue.
  • Members of the Public: Must lodge a complaint within 90 days from the date they became aware of the act or omission by a SANDF member.
  • Condonation: A condonation form is used when a complaint is submitted later than the allowed time period. You should complete a condonation form if:
    • You missed the deadline to submit your complaint, and 
    • You had a reasonable reason for the delay.

Use this portal to submit a complaint to the Office of the Military Ombud.
 To ensure your complaint is processed correctly, we will first determine whether it falls within the prescribed timeframes. Based on your answers, the system will guide you to the appropriate form automatically.
